Gene Weishuhn
Custom Leathersmith & Owner
When I made my first pair of leather moccasins at a Boy Scout camp in the mid sixties I was hooked. The tongues of old boots became knife sheaths, slingshot pouches and other items of dubious use, depending on the view of the owner of the boots.
Boy Scouts introduced me to Indian Lore and I studied everything I could get my hands on. That was when Internet was spelled B-O-O-K-S. Several of the guys in my troop got the bug and we formed an Indian Dance Team. We made our own costumes and accessories. What a great time we had. Leather played a big part in what we did back then. Later when Dolores and I were first married we began making leather items for sale; purses, key tags, belts, and the usual stuff. Family and jobs took over and leather-craft took a back seat.
In the late nineties, I developed an interest in Cowboy Action Shooting. Looking at what was available in holsters and belts left me disappointed. I truly felt I could do better. I got my tools out, blew off the dust and made my own gear. Then the ball started to roll on its own. Friends and fellow shooters began asking for gear so I decided to take this great hobby to the next level and established Indian Creek Leather Company.
Our goal is to make some of the finest leather holsters and belts in the sport. A tall order maybe, but if you’re going to do something do your best and give people more than they expect.
Well, you’re going to make some waves but at least you’ll have a bunch more friends.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of some of the projects we’ve made. We would be happy to make something for you. We value our friends.
